I'm looking to pick up a decent digital, and had almost decided on the P-255 (tried it in a store, action seems okay, fits my playing level), and then realized that the CLP-6xx series just came out. The CLP-625 has a much fancier action than the P-255, and seems to cost quite a bit less.
The P-255 with three pedals and a 'furniture' stand would cost me about $1600, give or take some tax, etc. The CLP-625 costs about $1200 shipped from Europe. See this link. I can't help wondering if there's a pricing disparity or other weirdness. Other stores in Europe seem to price it about the same. I'm in the US, and on-line vendors seem to want at least $2000. No store in my area carries the Clavinova line, so asking questions there or trying it out in person is out.
My questions are:
- Is such significant pricing disparity common between Europe and the US?
- The Clavinova comparison sheet from Yamaha shows no USB on the 625, which seems insane and contradicts the product datasheet. Has anyone seen a 625 in real life? I need to connect the piano to my computer, to use it as a MIDI controller.
